About CARE-MS
I
The content of this website relates only to recruitment of participants located
in the United States.
CARE-MS I is seeking 525 adults, worldwide.

To be eligible for CARE-MS I, potential participants must meet specific criteria
that include, among others:
- Diagnosis: RRMS
- Therapy: Not yet started MS therapy, other than corticosteroids
- Age: 18 - 50
- MS Symptoms: Began within the last 5 years
Every patient in the CARE-MS studies will receive active treatment; there is no
placebo.
Participation in the CARE-MS trials may offer participants the opportunity to help
advance research in the treatment of MS while taking a role in their healthcare.
One alemtuzumab treatment cycle will be administered intravenously each year for
2 years. Participants will receive alemtuzumab daily for the first 5 days of the
first year and daily for the first 3 days of the second year. Rebif® will be
given by injection under the skin 3 times per week throughout both years of the
study period. Rebif can be self-administered or administered by a caregiver.
In CARE-MS I, there is a 2-in-3 chance that participants will receive alemtuzumab
and a 1-in-3 chance participants will receive Rebif.
Study Duration
CARE-MS I study participants will be involved for 2 years. Participants receiving
alemtuzumab will be followed in an extension study for safety for at least 3 years
after their last dose. Participants may be asked to take part in neurological evaluations
to determine if any lasting treatment benefits exist. At the completion of the 2-year
study, participants receiving Rebif may be eligible to receive alemtuzumab in an
extension study.
Participation is completely voluntary. Study participants may withdraw at any time.
